Telegram returns errors as HTTP codes, like any API. In Chatterfy, this appears as sending failures in Messenger(chat status Error), and in the logs of the specific bot. The most common codes are 400 (PEER_FLOOD when there is a spam block, a long caption, invalid parameters) and 403 (Forbidden due to the conversation window or a deactivated lead). This section is for quick orientation: what it means, whether it can be fixed, and which settings can reduce its share.
Telegram errors do not depend on Chatterfy—these are the rules of the Telegram platform itself, common to all bots. They cannot be eliminated completely. The better approach is to configure the funnel so that each type of error occurs rarely (see the recommendations in each article).
One HTTP code — several different causes
Code 400 means “Bad Request,” but Telegram uses it for spam blocks, long text, and invalid parameters. The exact message after the code is more important than the code itself. Always look at the full text: Bad Request: PEER_FLOOD and Bad Request: caption is too long—both are 400, but they are resolved in different ways. Same with 403: Forbidden: Bot can't initiate—the conversation window is closed. Forbidden: user is deactivated—the lead deleted their Telegram account. They have nothing in common.

What is covered

Two HTTP codes, with an analysis of all common message variants. Click a card or read the short description below:
Error 400 — Telegram
Error code 400 from Telegram occurs in two typical cases: an account spam block (PEER_FLOOD) and exceeding the media caption length limit (caption is too long). These are different errors with the sam
Error 403 — Telegram
Error code 403 from Telegram means that Telegram does not allow the bot to perform the action. It happens in two common cases: the bot tries to message first in a private chat without an active sessio
— Error 400 — Telegram—PEER_FLOOD (spam block of the account or bot — the most common case), caption is too long (media caption length exceeded: the Telegram limit is 1024 characters), invalid parameters in an API call. The article covers how to restore an account after a spam block, how to split a long caption into separate messages, and how to avoid this in the funnel.
— Error 403 — Telegram—Bot can't initiate conversation (the 5-minute response window has expired or there are no incoming messages from the lead) and user is deactivated (the recipient’s account was deleted or blocked by the lead). The article covers how to open the conversation window through an inline button and how to guide the lead so the window does not close.

Where errors are visible in Chatterfy

When Telegram returns an error, Chatterfy records it in three places at once:
—The chat in Messenger gets the Error status (see Chat Status — conversation statuses). The red background shows that something was not sent. Click the chat to see the error text from Telegram directly under the last message.
—Bot logs—in General — basic bot settings(the Logs section for a specific bot)—a list of all Telegram errors with the time and message variant. Useful for counting “how many 403s per day” and for analysis.
—Analytics—in Chats — conversation analyticsyou can see the share of chats with the Error status out of the total volume. If the share is growing, it is time to adjust Delays — bot delaysor change the bot type.

General questions about Telegram errors

Not necessarily. Telegram Bot API is an external service with its own rules. Some errors occur for objective reasons (the lead deleted their account, the conversation window expired, a long media caption was sent—this is normal for an active funnel), while others are due to overloading the bot / personal account (PEER_FLOOD: you set the sending frequency too high → it gets blocked). You can reduce the share by configuring the funnel and limits, but you cannot eliminate them completely—this is part of normal work with Telegram.

It depends on the campaign type and lead base. For new cold Subscribe campaigns with a long delay before the first touch, around 5–15% of 403 Bot can't initiate is normal (some leads clicked out of curiosity and left). For active dialogs with regular messaging, it is almost 0% (because the conversation window stays open). For broadcasts to a “dormant” base via How Mass Broadcasts Work — 20–40% 403 deactivated may occur because part of the audience deleted their Telegram accounts a long time ago. PEER_FLOOD should be around 0%. If it happens regularly, review the frequency in Delays — bot delays.

Yes. Standard bots (via a token from BotFather) have the most liberal limits. Personal accounts (via a phone number) have the strictest ones; they easily run into PEER_FLOOD: Telegram treats them as private users and quickly restricts mass messaging. Business (Telegram Premium via Business API) is in the middle, with limits higher than Personal thanks to Premium. If you actively use Personal for arbitrage, expect PEER_FLOOD regularly. Learn more — Types of Bots in Chatterfy.

For Standard and Business, Telegram decides based on load and behavior. Telegram has no explicit “premium” plans for bots. The longer a bot runs without spikes or violations, the softer the limits become. For Personal, Telegram Premium increases the base limits. On the Chatterfy side, the message length limit is 3000 characters to avoid edge cases with Telegram's 4096 (1024 for media captions). If you set up a broadcast, configure the pause between messages in Delays — bot delays.

Reduce the load on the bot: stop active broadcasts, increase the pauses between messages in Delays — bot delays, and do not send identical texts one after another (Telegram treats repeated messages as spam more aggressively). After 6–24 hours, the spam block is usually lifted automatically. Resume work gradually — do not go back to the full volume immediately after the block is lifted, or you risk getting blocked again with stricter limits.
