Chatterfy has 4 types of connection to Telegram. The choice depends on how you want to communicate with a lead — via a bot, via a channel, or via a personal account. The type determines which features will be available after connection and how the lead gets into the CRM.
Type | What it is used for |
Standard | The main Telegram bot for CRM, AI, sales, support, and automation |
Invite | A bot for accepting requests to a Telegram channel |
Personal | Connecting a regular Telegram account |
Business | Connection via the Telegram Business API |
The connection type determines: |
how the bot will communicate with the user |
which features will be available |
how the user will get into the CRM |
which Telegram restrictions will apply |
Important
The connection type is selected when it is created. After connection, the type cannot be changed.
When to choose each type
Type | When to choose |
Standard | You need the main bot for CRM, AI, sales, support, broadcasts, and automation |
Invite | You need to accept requests to a Telegram channel |
Personal | You need to communicate on behalf of a regular Telegram account |
Business | You need a personal account with increased limits and the Telegram Business API |
Tip
If you’re not sure what to choose, almost always choose Standard.

Standard is the main and most versatile bot type in Chatterfy. It is a regular Telegram bot that connects via a token from @BotFather. If you are not sure which type to choose, Standard is almost always the one you need.

Outcome
Standard covers most CRM scenarios.
Invite
Invite is a special connection type for Telegram channels. It is not a full-fledged CRM bot: in private messages, it does not conduct conversations or use AI — it serves as an auxiliary entry point into the funnel.
The purpose of Invite: |
accept join requests for the channel |
send a welcome message |
pass the user further down the funnel |
Feature | Support |
Accepting join requests for a channel | Yes |
Welcome messages | Yes |
Transferring the user to a DM bot | Yes |
CRM handling of conversations | No |
AI Reply | No |
AI Routings | No |
AI Recognition | No |
When to use Invite
Invite is used when the funnel starts with a Telegram channel.
A typical scenario: ad → Telegram channel → Invite Bot → greeting → DM Bot → CRM.
The following can be used as the DM bot: |
Standard |
Personal |
Business |
Invite is also suitable for: |
closed clubs |
private channels |
communities with join requests |
If the same Standard bot accepts requests and chats in DMs, a separate Invite bot is not needed.
Personal
Personal is a connection for a regular Telegram account. The user sees not a bot, but a real person. Connection is performed by phone number or via QR code.
Personal features
Feature | Support |
Acting on behalf of a person | Yes |
“Bot” label | No |
CRM | Yes |
AI | Yes |
AI Reply | Yes |
AI Routings | Yes |
Tags and statuses | Yes |
Saving chats to CRM | Yes |
In terms of features, Personal is similar to Standard. The main difference is that communication is carried out on behalf of a regular Telegram account.
When to use Personal
Scenario | What it’s suitable for |
Sales | Communication on behalf of a manager without the “bot” label |
B2B | Personal communication with clients |
Consultations | Live communication format |
Premium segment | When a sense of a personal approach is important |
Transferring conversations to CRM | Connecting an existing Telegram account |
Automation risks
Telegram may restrict or block a Personal account in case of aggressive automation.
This especially applies to: |
bulk messaging |
a large number of outgoing messages |
cold contacts |
active AI conversations |
For large-scale scenarios, it is safer to use Standard or Business.
Business
Business is a connection via the Telegram Business API. This type works through a personal Telegram account with Telegram Premium. Conceptually, it is similar to Personal, but it has higher limits, is better suited for automation, and is more stable with large message volumes.
Business features
Capability | Support |
Working on behalf of a person | Yes |
“bot” label | No |
CRM | Yes |
AI | Yes |
AI Reply | Yes |
AI Routings | Yes |
Tags and statuses | Yes |
Increased message limits | Yes |
24-hour window limitation
Telegram Business has a 24-hour limitation. If the user has not written for more than 24 hours, you will not be able to send a new outgoing message. For the window to reopen, the user must write first. After their message, a new window opens for the next 24 hours. This is a Telegram Business API limitation, not Chatterfy.
When to use Business
Scenario | What it’s suitable for |
Large sales volumes | When Personal can no longer handle the load |
Premium scenarios | Personal communication without the “bot” label |
B2B | Communication on behalf of a real manager |
High-ticket sales | When a trust-based communication format is important |
Sales teams | Several managers with a large volume of conversations |
What to choose if you’re not sure
If in doubt, choose Standard.
This is: |
the most stable option |
the most versatile type |
the main Chatterfy workflow |
Standard covers most tasks: |
CRM |
AI |
sales |
broadcasts |
automation |
channels |
tracking |
webhooks |
Later, if necessary, you can add: |
Personal |
Business |
Invite |
What you should end up with
After choosing the connection type, you should understand:
Question | What you need to determine |
How the user will get into the CRM | Through a bot, channel, or personal account |
Whether AI is needed | Yes / no |
Whether a personal account is needed | Yes / no |
Do you need a Telegram channel | Yes / no |
Which Telegram restrictions will apply | Bot, Personal, or Business |
Which type fits the scenario | Standard / Invite / Personal / Business |
After that, you can proceed to connecting.
If something doesn't work
I don't understand which type to choose
In most cases, choose Standard. The other types are needed for special scenarios.
The Invite bot doesn't respond in private messages
This is normal. Invite is not intended for full-fledged communication in private messages.
For communication, use: |
Standard |
Personal |
Business |
Telegram has restricted the Personal account
This can happen with: |
mass mailings |
spam |
overly active automation |
working with a cold audience |
For large volumes, use Business or Standard.
I can't change the type after connecting
The connection type is fixed when it is created.
To use another type: |
create a new connection |
select the required type |
move the scenario to the new connection |
