Error code 400 from Telegram occurs in two typical cases: an account spam block (PEER_FLOOD) and exceeding the media caption length limit (caption is too long). These are different errors with the same HTTP code — do not confuse them.
In both cases, Telegram refuses to accept the message. What exactly it is complaining about is shown in the text after the code. Below are the two scenarios separately.
rpc error code 400: PEER_FLOOD
This is a spam block — Telegram's anti-spam protection has been triggered for the account sending the messages. It happens when too many messages are sent from a single personal account or a single bot in a short period of time, or when a mass campaign is sent to a large list.
The block is not always “global”. Sometimes the restriction applies only to one or two recipients or to a specific session (for example, to one of the connected Personal accounts). Some of these restrictions are lifted automatically after a few hours.
What to do now
Reduce the load
Stop mass campaigns and Push Messages — at least for a day for now. If the bot was working through a large selection, split it into smaller ones.Increase the pauses
In Delays — bot delays increase the delays between messages (Send Message delay, AI Reply delay). Telegram handles a more “human” conversation pace noticeably better.Vary the text
Anti-spam is triggered more often by identical templated messages. Change the wording and add variants in Send Message.Wait
Most Telegram restrictions are temporary. Within 6–24 hours after reducing the load, the spam block is lifted without contacting support.
To prevent this from happening again
Warm up new Personal accounts gradually: for the first 1–2 days, limit them to 30–50 messages, then increase gradually. Telegram Premium increases the base limits — for active Personal bots, it pays off. Do not use the same template unchanged at high volumes.
Bad Request: message caption is too long
The text under a photo, video, or document exceeds the allowed length. Telegram does not accept such a message — the media simply is not sent to the lead.
Length limits
A caption under a media file can be up to 1024 characters. A regular text message without media can be up to 4096 characters in Telegram. On the Chatterfy side, there is also a limit of up to 3000 characters per message — this is done to avoid truncation in edge cases.
How to fix it
Shorten the media caption to 1024 characters. If the main point does not fit, send the text and media as separate messages: first the image without a caption, then Send message — sending a prepared message with the long text.
If you use Custom Fields in substitutions, remember that the substituted value is also included in the total character count. A long lead name or username can unexpectedly push the text over the limit.
To send the same long text to multiple recipients, use How to create and set up a broadcast with splitting into media + text messages, not a single message with a large caption.
