Chatterfy has 4 types of Telegram connections. The choice depends on how you want to communicate with a lead — via a bot, via a channel, or via a personal account. The type determines which features will be available after connection and how the lead enters the CRM.
Type | Used for |
Standard | Primary Telegram bot for CRM, AI, sales, support, and automation |
Invite | Bot for receiving inquiries in a Telegram channel |
Personal | Connecting a regular Telegram account |
Business | Connecting via Telegram Business API |
The connection type determines: |
how the bot will communicate with the user |
which features will be available |
how the user will enter the CRM |
what Telegram limitations will apply |
Important
The connection type is selected during creation. Once connected, the type cannot be changed.

Summary
Standard covers most CRM scenarios.
Invite
Invite is a special connection type for Telegram channels. It is not a full-featured CRM bot: it does not hold private conversations and does not use AI — it is an auxiliary role for funnel entry.
Invite's task: |
accepting requests to join the channel |
sending a welcome message |
handing the user off to the next stage of the funnel |
Capability | Support |
Accepting requests to join the channel | Yes |
Welcome messages | Yes |
Handing the user off to the DM-bot | Yes |
CRM dialogue processing | No |
AI-responses | No |
AI routing | No |
AI recognition | No |
When to use Invite
Invite is used when the funnel starts with a Telegram channel.
Typical scenario: advertisement → Telegram channel → Invite Bot → greeting → DM Bot → CRM.
The following can be used as a DM bot: |
Standard |
Personal |
Business |
Invite is also suitable for: |
closed clubs |
private channels |
communities with join requests |
If the same Standard bot accepts requests and communicates in DMs, a separate Invite bot is not needed.
Personal
Personal — connecting a regular Telegram account. The user sees a real person, not a bot. Connection is performed via phone number or QR code.
Personal features
Capability | Support |
Working on behalf of a person | Yes |
"bot" label | No |
CRM | Yes |
AI | Yes |
AI responses | Yes |
AI routing | Yes |
Tags and statuses | Yes |
Saving chats to CRM | Yes |
In terms of features, Personal is similar to Standard. The main difference is that communication takes place on behalf of a regular Telegram account.
When to use Personal
Scenario | Best for |
Sales | Communicating on behalf of a manager without the 'bot' label |
B2B | Personal communication with clients |
Consultations | Live communication format |
Premium segment | When a personal touch is important |
Transferring correspondence to CRM | Connecting an existing Telegram account |
Automation risks
Telegram may restrict or ban a Personal account if aggressive automation is used.
This particularly applies to: |
mass messaging |
a large volume of outgoing messages |
cold contacts |
active AI communication |
For large-scale scenarios, it is safer to use Standard or Business.
Business
Business — connection via Telegram Business API. This type works through a personal Telegram account with Telegram Premium. In logic, it is similar to Personal, but it has increased limits, is better suited for automation, and is more stable with high volumes of messages.
Business features
Capability | Support |
Works as a human user | Yes |
Bot tag | No |
CRM | Yes |
AI | Yes |
AI responses | Yes |
AI routing | Yes |
Tags and statuses | Yes |
Increased message limits | Yes |
24-hour window limitation
Telegram Business has a 24-hour window limit. If a user has not messaged for more than 24 hours, you cannot send a new outgoing message. To reopen the window, the user must message first. Once they message, a new 24-hour window opens. This is a limitation of the Telegram Business API, not Chatterfy.
When to use Business
Scenario | Best for |
High sales volumes | When Personal can no longer handle the load |
Premium scenarios | Personal communication without the "bot" label |
B2B | Communication on behalf of a real manager |
High-ticket sales | When a trusted communication format is important |
Sales departments | Multiple managers with high volumes of conversations |

tracking |
webhooks |
