The action log can be exported to CSV — a tabular format for Excel and Google Sheets.

How to export Logs

What to prepare

At minimum, you need access to Logs — company activity log (Owner or Admin). The quality of the export depends on your preparation:
Decide exactly what you need. The entire log? One month? Actions by a single admin? The filters depend on the answer.
Apply filters — see How to filter Logs. Without them, you will get the entire log for all time — this is usually excessive.
Prepare where you will upload the CSV — Excel, Google Sheets, or BI, so you don’t download it “for later”.

Steps

1. Apply filters

To export only some events, configure filters before clicking Export. The file will include exactly the same selection that is visible in the table.
If you do not apply filters, the export will include the entire log for all time. For a large company, this can be tens of thousands of rows. Before clicking Export, make sure the table shows the selection you need.
For more about filters, see How to filter Logs.

2. Click Export CSV

The button is above the table. The file will start being generated.

3. Wait for the download

Downloading takes a few seconds. It takes longer for large logs.

What you should get

A CSV with all events matching the current filters. Without filters, the entire log for all time.

What’s inside the CSV

The same fields as in the table in the interface:
Column
What it shows
Event
Event type (user.invite, role.change)
User
Who performed the action — email
Object
Object type and its identifier
Details
Text description of the change
Timestamp
Date and time in UTC

Usage examples

Internal quarterly report

HR collects a report on team growth once a quarter. Filters: Object: user, Time: quarter. Export CSV → Google Sheets → count invitations.

External security audit

The auditor requests the log for the past six months. Time: Last 6 months, do not narrow by Object. Export CSV → send to the auditor.

Long-term archive

Storage in Chatterfy is reliable, but for compliance, create an independent copy: once a month, export the month’s data to secure storage.

Frequently asked questions

The limit on the size of a single export and the behavior for very large logs (truncation, error, splitting into parts) depend on the platform settings. Check the current limits with Chatterfy support.

Check the role — export is available only to the company Owner and Admin.
If the filters excluded all rows, the button may be inactive.
If failures occur on a very large selection, narrow the period in the Time filter.

Try Google Sheets or BI tools. You can narrow the period in Time to reduce the file size.

The export contains the same log content as in the interface (events, authors, objects). Before sharing the file with third parties, check your company’s data policy and, if necessary, confirm the field set with support.
